Whazzzz Uppppp????Boat Pics!

Here are pictures of my 1977 Kachina jet boat in progress of resoration

  • When I first brought the boat home it was pretty busted up. I traded it for my 007 Glastron/Carlson Clamp-on.(which I restored 2 years prior) The Kachina had a rod knock because the guy who built the motor didn't put the oil pump drive shaft in until he relized there was no oil pressure after running it for about 10 min! So I took it away in that condition(Screwed up).

  • The first thing I did after getting it home was start cleaning! I busted out the buffer and dove in. The boat originaly had Big bright orange lettering on the bow, which read "Family Tradition". But all that was left was the "M" and the "d" so it looked like it was saying "MD" pretty funny. So I sanded off the "MD" which made the cream and brown deck look 100% better. I could also make out some writting on the back off the boat, that showed it had been raced before. It said "Larry the dog Sogstan racing" and under "crew" it said "who ever shows up". And last it said "sponsered by" "something marine engines" I could not quite make it all out.

  • After the clean up stage I pulled out the motor(460 Ford) and started taking it apart for the rebuild. Well to make a long story short I flatted three cams in the same block after three rebuilds in 2 months. So I only had the boat in the water once. I think the cam bearings were put in wrong and it was pushing the cam foward in the block causing it to flatten every cam. So I don't know how fast it was or how fast its going to be when its done. This is when I decided to just start rebuilding everything. I started with the paint, top and bottom, then the trailer, and finally I sent the pump off the MPD to get a stage 1.5, a (B) impeller, and the rideplate & shoe. Right now I am working on putting a floor in because it never had one.
